ALL THINGS ENLIGHTEN 2.0

Can you believe that the Enlighten Workshop is right around the corner?! We're getting SO close, and I can't wait! Here is the info on the hotel, studio location, schedule

and other logistics.

HOTEL INFO:

For those who need a hotel, the closest one is the Canvas Hotel, and it is walking distance to the studio (it's across the street). However, there are quite a few other hotels (OmniAloftLorenzo) in the area not far from the studio that will require a Lyft/Uber or car to get to the studio. Be sure to check sites like Hotels.com and Priceline for the best deals. Here's a quick link to Google Maps with the hotels in pink:

HOTELS CLOSE TO THE STUDIO

Lunch and dinner will be provided, but you will need to cover breakfast. Also, there's the Opening Bell coffee shop in the same building as the studio so you can get your caffeine fix before we get to work. ;)

TRANSPORTATION INFO:

You are responsible for getting to and from the airports, hotel, and studio, whether that's by taxi, Uber/Lyft, or rental car. Dallas Love Field is not too far from the studio (only about 7.5 miles, which is about a 25-30 minute drive depending upon traffic), but DFW International is quite a bit farther (22.1 miles, or about 40-50 minutes depending upon traffic). So, if you're able to fly into Love Field (via Southwest or Delta, which are the only carriers that fly into Love), that's your best bet. Love Field is a MUCH smaller airport, which means easy arrivals and departures, as well as quick security lines.

STUDIO ADDRESS:

The studio where we'll be working is located at:

South Side on Lamar

1409 South Lamar St., #526

Dallas, TX 75215

Take the elevator to the 5th floor and follow the signs for 526.

***SEE THE DOCUMENT HERE FOR PARKING INFORMATION IF YOU ARE NOT STAYING AT CANVAS HOTEL***

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Camera

  • Memory Cards

  • Batteries

  • Lenses

  • Notebook + pen for any notes you want to take

  • Laptop with Photoshop at minimum (we will both be retouching in Photoshop). Nico will be culling in Adobe Bridge and color correcting in Camera Raw. Jen will be culling in PhotoMechanic and color correcting in CaptureOne 12. PhotoMechanic AND CaptureOne both offer a free 30-day trial, so please feel free to download those prior to arrival if you want to follow along.

  • Card reader

ATTIRE:

As far as attire is concerned, we're in for two long days of work, and we want you to be comfortable while you're shooting and during the classroom portion of the second day.

If you feel best in jeans, wear jeans. If you want to wear yoga pants and a t-shirt, that's fine, too. Just make sure that whatever you wear will be not only comfortable but also easy for you to shoot in. It does get cold in the studio sometimes, so be sure to bring a sweater or jacket if you get cold easily.

Just as a heads up, we may shift the schedule around as needed to accommodate the natural progression of the days. That said, here is the standard workshop schedule:
